The coding mice have been a hit and used with numerous students of various ages to learn the basics of coding. Students create a plan for their code and then implement it on their mice. This helps them with the process of mapping to navigate their bot. With their plan, students have created mazes of various sizes for their mice to navigate with the end goal of finding the cheese with their codes. It has been entertaining to watch them navigate the world of coding with mice and learn from their mistakes to ensure they get to the cheese. The mice have provided students with opportunities for teamwork as students support one another by creating more elaborate mazes or when their code has failed. \r\n\r\nThank you again for helping my students access early skills in coding!","fullyFundedDate":1731532230495,"projectUrl":"project/mice-and-coding-oh-my/8678673/","projectTitle":"Mice and Coding! Our new STEM materials have been a hit! Students use them daily for morning exploration tubs. Students share with me daily to show off their proud creations or to tell me a new strategy they tried when building. Your impact not only supported my classroom but all students from Kindergarten through Second Grade. These materials have been successfully received, organized, and used weekly. Students are excited about planning and coding with Bee Bots, building with Legos, and reflecting on their work through drawing and writing. The materials you helped purchase will be used for years at Tamarack as we build and continue to learn with our OMSI Partnership and those beyond. \r\n\r\nTamarack Elementary School serves a diverse population where our students come from multilingual homes. Sometimes core content can be a challenge for some, but STEM activities spark a learning opportunity like no other. Students are able to thrive in play, discover new ideas, and challenge their brains to solve different problems. Having these materials supports all of my learners and allows them to uncover their own innate passions. I have students who want to be engineers, coders, Youtubers, doctors, and even teachers. STEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics) is a way for students to grapple with materials and apply various thinking skills to enhance their learning in and out of the classroom. \r\n\r\nYour donation is greatly appreciated and our community will continue to learn and grow with the.
