The whiteboard posters and supplies you provided have given my students new opportunities to work collaboratively and think through problems together. We use them during math time, where students work in pairs at these vertical surfaces to tackle problems, and we've also found them helpful during reading instruction for dictation activities. The students were thrilled when the materials arrived – they love using the whiteboard posters because they feel like teachers when they're working at them. The whiteboards also allow them to move around, which is so important for first graders who need frequent changes of pace. I've noticed that working at the vertical surfaces naturally encourages them to share information and collaborate, with ideas flowing around the classroom in ways that didn't happen as easily with traditional seat-work.\r\n\r\nWe're still in the early stages of building a true thinking classroom, and it's very much a work in progress as we learn together what this approach can look like in first grade. Our next steps involve continuing to develop routines where students focus on problem-solving strategies rather than just finding answers, and helping them build the skills to explain their mathematical thinking to each other. I'm grateful for the opportunity your donation has given us to try this approach and see where it takes our learning. Thank you for believing in our classroom and supporting us as we work toward creating a space where thinking and collaboration can flourish!","fullyFundedDate":1755481129729,"projectUrl":"project/building-a-thinking-classroom-in-1st-gra/9610278/","projectTitle":"Building a Thinking Classroom in 1st Grade Math","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Le","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-1_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/7904261"},{"teacherId":3899734,"projectId":9039317,"letterContent":"The excitement for these sports books was palpable!
