Now, students have headphones that provide a much more comfortable fit, are high-quality and durable, and that are color-coded to help with organization. For example, in my 6th grade classroom, the white foldable headphones are stored in red cubbies on the desks to be used with iPads, and the colorful headphones (e.g., purple or green) are used with the electronic drum set and digital piano. \r\n\r\nHaving designated classroom headphones also promotes student independence and accountability since students are expected to take care of them. A well-organized environment is crucial to classroom management and student success, and I have noticed a tremendous difference this year thanks to getting this project funded. \r\n\r\nThe magazine holders make perfect cubbies for students to store clipboards and headphones - both of which were also items in this project. The carpet numbers also keep students organized when they come into class, plus they correspond to students' cubbies and headphones/clipboards, which makes transitions and written work smoother than ever. The pencils and pencil boxes have made it so much easier to complete our Boomwhackers composition project, a project I do with each new rotation of 5th graders. It is high-quality, does not take up much space, and has the ability to connect to an iPad via aux cord or Bluetooth, which has been a gamechanger. I have used this piano for my 6th graders keyboard quiz at the end of their keyboard unit, and students are using it to practice for their upcoming concert. I am also able to use it for piano lessons, to demonstrate piano concepts, help tune guitars, and work with vocalists. \r\n\r\nWhen the piano arrived, my students were so excited to get it assembled and try it out. A few of my 6th graders even helped me with the assembly! \r\n\r\nWe are so grateful to have this amazing instrument, and now that we have had a chance to try it out, I will definitely be trying to get more of these pianos in the future to build up a mini piano lab in my 6th grade classroom.
