Your support has made a meaningful difference in our classroom, allowing students to explore their creativity with both daily essentials and exciting new projects.\r\nWith your help, our young artists have been able to create miniature clay food and animal sculptures from colorful air-dry clay, learning how to shape, build, and add fine details to their work. Students love creating three-dimensional projects. These projects not only taught artistic skills but also encouraged patience, problem-solving, and pride in their finished creations.\r\nYour donation also provided us with important daily supplies such as drawing paper, glue sticks, Sharpies, Expo markers, stencils, and fluorescent light covers. These items may seem simple, but they are used every day and make our classroom a more welcoming, and better-equipped space for students to learn and create.\r\nThank you again for investing in our students' artistic growth. Your generosity ensures that every child has the opportunity to experience the joy and confidence that comes from making art.","fullyFundedDate":1741975823500,"projectUrl":"project/let-starside-students-be-art-rock-stars/8968394/","projectTitle":"Let Starside Students Be Art Rock Stars!","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Smith","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-10_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9848279"},{"teacherId":2941151,"projectId":9197468,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for gifting our class the books to help us learn about how AI works. The Orton Gillingham materials I received along with the Teachers Pay Teachers gift cards allowed me to create some amazing lessons for my students this year. Each student made progress on their reading goals and found success using the materials you purchased for us. I sincerely appreciate your thoughtfulness and your selflessness. When I told the students that somebody out there in the world helped pay for many of the materials we used this year, they thought that was really \"cool\". The STEM activities and math games you helped provide have already made a huge impact. My students lit up with excitement the moment they saw the colorful bins of math games and hands-on STEM kits. One of their favorite moments so far was during a math center rotation where they used a game focused on using each of the four operations—students were actively engaged, helping each other, and even asking to play it again during indoor recess! Students are able to build with our STEM kits in the mornings before starting the day with rigorous academics. It's been incredible to see their creativity and collaboration grow as they problem-solve and test out new ideas.\r\n\r\nThese new resources have brought fresh energy into our classroom and opened the door to deeper learning. The math games have become a core part of our daily math block, supporting differentiated instruction and allowing all learners to feel successful. We do a lot of projects during the year that take things like duct tape and hot glue. So, having our supply replenished is very important for us to keep going for the rest of the year and next year too. \r\n\r\nSome things that we have used duct tape and hot glue on recently was building operation games. We took real operation games apart to see how they work. Then we constructed our own. After we decided on a theme, then we designed and 3d printed game pieces for the game. Next we coded a Micro Bit computers to buzz when the circuit was completed and wired the game up to function with some wires, aluminum foil and tweezers. \r\n\r\nThroughout the year we have also made miniature golf games, constructed battlebots with our robots and battled them and so much more. So, having these supplies makes it possible for us to do authentic real world work. It helps us learn to think creatively, cooperate with peers, problem solve and so much more. Coming up next we will be designing soda bottle rockets and Sphero robot powered boats to drive on the lake nearby and launch in the park near the lake. \r\n\r\nThank you so much for making all of this possible.","fullyFundedDate":1734449729361,"projectUrl":"project/getting-sticky-in-steam/8928727/","projectTitle":"Getting Sticky in STEAM","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Berry","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/272x272/tp2941151_272x272.jpg?width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1490474142536","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/2941151"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_56894","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":428,"numTeachers":38,"percentFrplEligible":49,"percentAsian":0,"percentBlack":1,"percentWhite":61,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":33,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"K - 5","studentTeacherRatio":"11.3:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"RURAL","ncesMetroType":"RURAL_FRINGE"},"inStateSupporters":45.3,"schoolId":56894,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Starside Elementary School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Starside Elementary School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/kansas/unified-school-district-232/starside-elementary-school/56894"}
