I test them, all 50 students, twice a month to ensure they are meeting the quarterly goal of 140 words or more. I love how involved they get and the practice they put into their reading. They have been a terrific addition to our STEM classes. They have helped students learn so much about electricity and coding. The students had so much fun playing instruments, designing video games, and making interactive posters with them. Students were excited to see all of the exciting things they could do with the Makey Makeys. It also taught them important science lesson about electrical currents. They had to learn how to make sure they were making complete circuits. Also, they had to learn which materials were conductive.\r\n\r\nThe Makey Makey were also a part of our STEM night. My class was screaming with joy when they saw the candy from a country they love.....Mexico!!!\r\n\r\nIt loved hearing their excitement about their favorite candies, and what they would do to earn it, in terms of meeting goals. \r\n\r\nWe use exit tickets at the end of each lesson to show learning and when they are highly proficient, they may earn table points and a treat. That set the bar high and several have already selected the snacks they love most. It makes others see what they can earn and then they begin to pay more attention in class to lessons. I think it ups the rigor among the scholars and am happy to see what results will show when we take district tests end of the quarter at the end of the month.","fullyFundedDate":1755729191136,"projectUrl":"project/sweets-for-sweeties/9592620/","projectTitle":"Sweets for Sweeties!","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Brinkman","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/272x272/tp3011515_272x272.jpg?width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1506482749973","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/ms-rebeccabrinkman"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_58337","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":677,"numTeachers":58,"percentFrplEligible":95,"percentAsian":0,"percentBlack":1,"percentWhite":1,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":94,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","percentHawaiianImputed":0,"percentMultiracialImputed":0,"gradesServed":"Pre-K - 6","studentTeacherRatio":"11.7:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"URBAN","ncesMetroType":"CITY_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":66.0,"schoolId":58337,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Starlight Park College Preparatory Cmty School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Starlight Park College Preparatory Cmty School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/arizona/cartwright-school-district-83/starlight-park-elementary-school/58337"}
