With these resources, our class was able to complete a meaningful \"Acts of Kindness\" project where students created care boxes for both teachers and fellow students to help them start their day feeling supported, appreciated, and energized. This project became much more than simply giving out snacks—it became an opportunity for students to learn empathy, kindness, teamwork, and the importance of helping others.\r\n\r\nWhen the students first saw all of the donated materials, they were incredibly excited and eager to begin organizing the care boxes. Students immediately started brainstorming ideas about how to decorate the boxes and what items should go inside each one. One of the most memorable classroom moments happened when students carefully packed snacks, drinks, and encouraging notes into the boxes while talking about how they hoped to make someone smile. Several students shared that they knew how hard it can be to start the day feeling tired or hungry, and they wanted others to feel cared for and supported.\r\n\r\nThe reactions from both students and teachers who received the boxes were truly heartwarming. Teachers expressed gratitude for the thoughtful surprise, while students who received the care packages smiled with excitement and appreciation. My students felt proud knowing they were able to brighten someone's day through simple acts of kindness. It was amazing to watch them realize how even small gestures can make a big difference in someone's mood and confidence.\r\n\r\nThis project also created opportunities for important classroom discussions about compassion, gratitude, and community. Students learned that kindness is not always about large actions—it can be something as simple as sharing a snack, offering encouragement, or helping someone feel seen and appreciated. Throughout the project, students practiced communication, teamwork, problem-solving, and leadership skills while working together to assemble the care boxes.\r\n\r\nAcademically, this project connected to our social-emotional learning lessons and writing activities. Students wrote positive notes and encouraging messages to place inside the boxes, helping strengthen both their writing skills and emotional awareness. They also reflected on how helping others made them feel and discussed ways they can continue showing kindness in school and at home.\r\n\r\nThe next steps for our classroom involve continuing our focus on kindness, leadership, and community-building activities. Students are currently working on projects centered around positive character traits, teamwork, and giving back to others. We hope to continue creating opportunities for students to spread positivity throughout the school while learning the importance of compassion and service.\r\n\r\nBecause of your generosity, my students experienced the joy of giving and learned valuable lessons that extend far beyond academics. These donations helped create meaningful connections within our classroom and school community while teaching students that their actions truly matter. Thank you for helping us create an environment filled with kindness, support, and encouragement for everyone involved.","fullyFundedDate":1778061997654,"projectUrl":"project/small-acts-big-impact-kindness-for-our/10193819/","projectTitle":"Small Acts, Big Impact: Kindness for Our School","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Brittany","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp8900136_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1675464220809","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/8900136"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_38158","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":497,"numTeachers":48,"percentFrplEligible":92,"percentAsian":1,"percentBlack":25,"percentWhite":26,"percentIndigenous":1,"percentLatinx":35,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","percentHawaiianImputed":0,"percentMultiracialImputed":0,"gradesServed":"6 - 8","studentTeacherRatio":"10.4:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"URBAN","ncesMetroType":"CITY_SMALL"},"inStateSupporters":57.7,"schoolId":38158,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Starbuck International K-8 School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Starbuck International K-8 School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/wisconsin/racine-unified-school-district/starbuck-middle-school/38158"}
