So far with the art supplies, and construction paper we were able to make posters for bully prevention month and hang them up throughout the school. We received large outdoor games like connect 4, blocks to stack (jenga) badminton and ballpong. These games will be fun for students who do not participate and are ready to wait and cheer on participants and for those who are done early and need some entertainment.\r\nOur prizes that we have for participants include chapstick and chapstick holders, bookmarks, and hand lotions. Having these engaging stories readily available in our classroom library will foster a love of reading and build their confidence as they see themselves successfully decoding words. Students love the variety of prizes they are allowed to choose from and work hard during the week to get as many punches as they can to earn more and more.\r\n\r\nThis has helped with classroom management as well as getting the kids excited about going above and beyond. When students first saw all the supplies they got excited. They love having their own eraser for their dry erase boards and loved getting to pick the color dry erase marker they use for learning. Students now have access to supplies they need when they need them. They have the freedom of getting what they need in the moment giving them more independence and creativity. \r\n\r\nI thank you personally for the presenter because I am now able to walk around the room more as I go through slides on the board while teaching which allows students to get more help when needed. \r\n\r\nThe next step for students would be to focus on how they can better organize themselves and their supplies. Students love being able to have the books displayed in the classroom versus having to go through bins of them to find one they would like to read. I have seen many students grab a book and sit in the take a break area to read. Students also enjoy having a place to put their manipulatives and play items. I have had students who ask if they can organize the shelves when they notice it is not how it should be. \r\n\r\nThe next step for this project is to obtain more books to rotate out on the book shelf so that students can inquire more into our units. Also, I would like to get sturdier containers for manipulatives on the shelves to better organize the items.
