Something books have already sparked meaningful conversations. Students are learning to put words to feelings like boredom and apathy, and to notice the signals their bodies send them, such as a racing heart, tight shoulders, or a fluttery stomach. Many of my students struggle to explain what's going on inside, so these books give them a shared vocabulary and a reassuring message that every feeling is normal and manageable. Creative SEL has also given me fresh, hands-on project ideas that turn social-emotional learning into something students can build, create, and explore together.\r\n\r\nThe slow-rising stress cubes and mochi squishies have become calming tools in our room. When a student feels anxious, frustrated, or restless, a quiet squeeze helps them regulate and refocus without leaving the lesson. Having enough for the whole class means no one feels singled out for needing a moment to reset. The squishies also make wonderful rewards that celebrate kindness, effort, and growth. The Ungame has quickly become a favorite. Because it's non-competitive, every student gets a turn to share and every student practices listening. I've watched quieter students open up and classmates respond with genuine empathy, which builds the trust and connection that make our classroom feel safe.\r\n\r\nYour gift reaches far beyond the materials themselves. You've given my students the skills to recognize their feelings, calm their bodies, and connect with one another, and those skills will stay with them long after this school year ends.
