My students were so excited when they received the new classroom materials. It was like Christmas for them. They couldn't wait to have them in the room. The dramatic play people were a big hit. The students enjoy using them to role play. They were very popular during our buildings and recycling unit. I enjoyed watching their little imaginations go. the magnatile set opended up a whole new world of building. Some of the creations they were able to make was out of this world. We also used the magnatiles to sort by color. And I wrote on them to do math or literacy activities. This helped them socialize and problem-solve to make sure that they would not break or fall. My students were excited and happy when they saw new materials/toys for them in the classroom. They all wanted to open up everything and explore. The Lakeshore Trace and Write Alphabet has been placed in my writing/literacy center. Here my students can practice writing the letters in the alphabet. The puzzle builders (bugs) have been placed in my science center. The students love completing the puzzle and feeling the raised puzzle pieces. As for the other items, I use them during small groups. My students use the farm and animal counters to work on counting, using 1:1 correspondence and sharing. My students really enjoy the Letter sensory tracing pads. They love the way the liquid feels and how they can erase it. I recently have a new class now and they are all beginning to enjoy the materials as much as my last class.
