Because of your support, over 100 books made their way into the hands of students just in time for summer—and the impact has been nothing short of inspiring.\r\n\r\nThis project wasn't about tests, worksheets, or assignments. It was about joy. I wanted every child to walk away with a book I wanted to share and could enjoy on their own terms—no strings attached. For many of our students, this was their first time owning a book of their very own.\r\n\r\nReading, in this case, wasn't about teaching standards or analyzing symbolism (though we love those things too!). It was about sparking curiosity, building confidence, and sharing stories with siblings, cousins, and caregivers. In fact, some students told me their families were just as excited to read the books as they were—turning reading into a shared summer experience.\r\n\r\nI've already heard from a few students who've finished their books. This has opened up a world of reading, that they had not previously been accustomed to. A parent to student, read the book, and requested more. When kids see their parents reading, or siblings, it becomes an easier practice, enjoyable even. \r\n\r\nThese moments are the heart of what you helped create: a reading experience that's personal, positive, and lasting.\r\n\r\nThank you again for helping make reading a part of our students' summer—and their lives.","fullyFundedDate":1737569644200,"projectUrl":"project/ignite-a-love-for-reading-fahrenheit-4/8934655/","projectTitle":"Ignite a Love for Reading: Fahrenheit 451","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Gregory","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-1_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/8991281"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_58255","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":1726,"numTeachers":86,"percentFrplEligible":66,"percentAsian":1,"percentBlack":28,"percentWhite":29,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":36,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"9 - 12","studentTeacherRatio":"20.1:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"URBAN","ncesMetroType":"CITY_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":60.0,"schoolId":58255,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Southern High School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Southern High School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/kentucky/jefferson-county-public-schools/southern-high-school/58255"}
