Your donation has made a meaningful impact on our classroom community, fostering both a sense of dignity and confidence in my students.\r\n\r\nHow are we using the new resources?\r\nThe hygiene supplies you provided are being used daily in our self-care station. This station is part of our ongoing life skills lessons, where students learn essential personal hygiene practices that promote independence and self-respect. For example, one project we've done is our \"Healthy Habits Routine,\" where each student creates a visual step-by-step guide for brushing teeth, washing hands, and other daily hygiene tasks. This has been a huge success, helping students not only understand these important habits but also take pride in practicing them.\r\n\r\nStudents' reactions?\r\nWhen the supplies arrived, my students' faces lit up with excitement and relief. Many of them have not had easy access to these essentials at home, and having them readily available in our classroom has made them feel valued and cared for. One student even said, \"I feel so happy because now I can be clean at school!\"\r\n\r\nWhat's next?\r\nWith your help, our students are moving forward in their life skills curriculum. The next project will be to create personal hygiene kits that students can take home to reinforce the healthy habits they're learning here. We're also planning to integrate these lessons into role-play activities, where students practice using these supplies in different real-life scenarios, helping them feel even more confident in managing their personal hygiene independently.\r\n\r\nThank you again for your support. Thanks to the resources you provided, we were able to complete a meaningful project where my students designed and created handmade pillows for the seniors in our community. The kids poured their hearts into picking fabrics, sewing, and decorating each pillow with care. Watching their pride grow with every stitch was truly something special. They couldn't wait to share their creations and see the smiles they'd bring.\r\n\r\nWhen we delivered the pillows, the response from our community seniors was overwhelming. Our students were greeted with hugs, smiles, and tears of gratitude—moments they'll never forget. Some seniors were so touched that they brought small thank-you gifts for the kids in return. One student said, \"I didn't know we could make people this happy!\" Seeing how their kindness made a real difference helped build their confidence, empathy, and a sense of purpose. The excitement they felt from being appreciated by adults in the community turned into motivation to give back even more.\r\n\r\nWith these resources, we've not only completed a beautiful project, but we've also started conversations about generosity, community, and leadership. The kids are already brainstorming what we can make or do next to keep spreading kindness. Thank you, DonorsChoose Community and Anonymous Partner, for giving my students the opportunity to learn valuable skills while experiencing the joy of giving back. For many of our nonverbal and deaf students, the iPads have become their voice. Using specialized communication apps, students are now able to tell us what they need, how they're feeling, and even share ideas for the first time. It's been incredible to see their confidence grow as they realize they can participate more fully in classroom conversations, make choices, and advocate for themselves in ways that weren't possible before.\r\n\r\nFor our students with Childhood Apraxia of Speech (CAS), the iPads have opened up new pathways for practicing sounds and building their speech skills. Interactive apps with visual and auditory feedback have made speech practice more engaging and accessible. The excitement on their faces when they master a new word or communicate an idea independently is something we'll never forget.\r\n\r\nWhat's been most heartwarming is how these devices have helped students connect not only with teachers but also with their classmates. Peers have become eager to learn how to use the apps too, encouraging communication and fostering inclusion.
