The children have had many fun moments exploring, creating, and painting. My main focus for this club was to bring children for weekly afternoon fun, it has become so much more. Students may not be in the same class, now are friends, they are able to laugh, be silly and be in awe of how slime can be made with three ingredients. Cutting and pasting has been a fun challenge with crossed lines, glued fingers and glittered walls. Laughter fills the room and the children not ever want to leave. You have helped to provide our students with seating that allows for movement. The wobble chair allows my fidgety students to move around, yet still remain on task and learning. The foot cushion allows a child with Cerebral Palsy to rest her feet comfortably and continue to learn. We use these items all day, every day. It is a game changer for everyone.\r\n We have also been using our dividers to reduce or eliminate distractions while learning. This helps our students to focus on the work in front of them. Since receiving this resource, our classroom has been filled with excitement, creativity, and hands-on learning. This donation has truly opened up new opportunities for my students to engage in projects that not only teach important life skills but also allow them to express themselves in meaningful ways.\r\n\r\nWe have been using the Cricut machine to create a variety of personalized items that are both practical and fun. From custom t-shirts and tote bags to decorative wall art and keychains, the possibilities are endless. Each project requires my students to follow a design process, measure and cut materials, and pay attention to details—skills that are transferable to many areas of life. They are also learning how to plan, problem-solve, and work collaboratively. It's inspiring to see their pride and enthusiasm as they take a concept from an idea to a tangible, finished product.\r\n\r\nThe very first time my students saw the Cricut machine, their reactions were priceless. They were in awe of how sophisticated and high-tech the machine looked, and they couldn't wait to get started. For many of my students, this was their first experience with a tool like the Cricut, and they were immediately drawn to the creative possibilities it offered. One student exclaimed, \"We get to make our own stuff? That's so cool!\" There was an overwhelming sense of excitement and curiosity in the room as we began our first project together. It was a moment of pure joy, and I could see how it sparked a deeper interest in learning and creativity.\r\n\r\nCurrently, we are working on a project where students are designing and creating personalized keychains. This project is a great example of how the Cricut machine is helping my students develop practical skills while also encouraging their creativity. Each student is choosing a design, learning to use the Cricut software, and then cutting their vinyl designs to make their own keychains. They are taking pride in selecting colors, adding names or special symbols, and making something they can hold in their hands and gift to family members. It's not just a fun craft—this project helps them practice important skills such as fine motor coordination, problem-solving, and following through on a task. It also provides an opportunity for them to learn about design thinking and personalization, which are important concepts in today's world.\r\n\r\nIn addition to the hands-on skills they are developing, the Cricut machine has also opened up a dialogue about self-expression. My students are using this tool to share pieces of their identity, interests, and culture through their designs. It has been amazing to watch them take ownership of their projects, and I am constantly inspired by their creativity. As we continue to work on different projects, my students are learning how to use tools in ways that will support their independence and confidence, both in and outside of the classroom.\r\n\r\nLooking ahead, we have more exciting projects in the works. Students will soon be creating personalized home décor items, like motivational posters and inspirational signs, to decorate their homes. This will allow them to continue to apply their Cricut skills while working on more intricate and detailed projects. They'll learn the value of perseverance and attention to detail as they perfect their designs and experiment with different materials.\r\n\r\nYour donation has not only provided a powerful tool for learning but has also inspired a sense of pride and accomplishment in my students. They now have a new way to express themselves, and their enthusiasm is contagious. Thank you for making this possible. Your support is truly making a difference, and we are so grateful for your generosity.","fullyFundedDate":1735428360556,"projectUrl":"project/crafting-creativity-empowering-students/8992086/","projectTitle":"Crafting Creativity: Empowering Students using Cricut Machine for Hands-On Learning","teacherDisplayName":"Mr. D.","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp3690257_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1725890924815","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/3690257"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_22885","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":347,"numTeachers":52,"percentFrplEligible":68,"percentAsian":0,"percentBlack":1,"percentWhite":31,"percentIndigenous":7,"percentLatinx":56,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"5 - 8","studentTeacherRatio":"6.7:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":false,"metroType":"SUBURBAN","ncesMetroType":"SUBURB_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":79.2,"schoolId":22885,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Southampton Intermediate School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Southampton Intermediate School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/new-york/southampton-union-free-school-district/southampton-intermediate-school/22885"}
