So much of early learning is setting a foundation that supports students in very technical skills (fine-motor, occupational, language). Your contributions allowed me to purchase things like a slant board to support a student who had strong literacy skills, but very underdeveloped handwriting. I was able to send home play-doh with students so parents could support their students in learning their alphabet, without them having to force traditional homework worksheet packets. \r\n\r\nMy fear as a teacher is that a lack of resources or opportunities will be the reason why I feel limited in what I can offer to the students and their families. They draft, edit, revise, and draft again. Using their writing strategies and the writing process, they have come a long way in their essays. They are now able to create multiple paragraphs by topic, edit their writing using the grammar rules they learned and they are publishing and giving each other feedback on their writing. With the help of your donation, we were able to get a notebook for each student where they draft their writing or use it to edit their writing by practicing editing marks.\r\n\r\nAt the end of the unit, the students were able to present their writing to their parents in our student showcase. In the photos, you will see the joy in the parents' eyes as they saw the final writing pieces that their child was so proud to show. Thank you for contributing to this project.
