As a teacher who has taught 3rd grade for three years now, I have noticed that my students are constantly struggling to edit their own papers independently on a consistent basis. Teacher modeling allows students to see exactly how to be successful in a certain skill, and perform that skill independently. This document camera will give my students learning opportunities to see how I go through the writing process to make improvements step by step, so that they too can edit their own writing to make it better. The donations to this project will help my students grow as young writers. By implementing this document camera, student writing samples can be projected as examples to the whole class. Not only will this boost my students' motivation and self-confidence, but it will provide a chance for student work to be utilized as mentor texts and as teaching points. The addition of technology like this document camera allows students to see what others are writing and gain new skills and ideas from their peers. Lessons are more powerful when students can learn from each other as well as encourage each others' growth by giving and receiving feedback on their writing.
