Thank you so much for supporting our classroom through DonorsChoose and helping provide our new LEGO Science Kits for our 6th–8th grade students. Your generosity is already making a positive impact in our classroom, and we are just beginning to explore all the possibilities these kits will bring to student learning.\r\nAs we introduced the LEGO kits at the end of this school year, the excitement from students was immediate. Many students who are sometimes hesitant during traditional lessons became engaged, curious, and eager to participate. The hands-on building activities created an environment where students were collaborating, problem-solving, and learning while genuinely having fun.\r\nOne of the best parts of using the LEGO kits has been watching students experiment, test ideas, and learn from mistakes without fear of failure. They are developing critical thinking, communication, and engineering skills in a way that feels exciting and meaningful to them. Students have already commented that science \"doesn't feel like work\" because they are actively creating and discovering.\r\nThis spring has allowed us to begin introducing the program, but next school year we plan to fully implement the LEGO Science Kits into our curriculum. We are excited to expand lessons that encourage creativity, teamwork, and real-world problem solving while helping students build confidence in STEM learning.\r\nYour donation is giving students opportunities they will remember long after middle school. Thank you for investing in our classroom and helping create a space where students can learn through exploration, creativity, and hands-on experiences.","fullyFundedDate":1777979668685,"projectUrl":"project/hands-on-computer-science-learning-with/10089963/","projectTitle":"Hands-on Computer Science Learning With LEGOs","teacherDisplayName":"Dr. Ward","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp10431388_orig.jpg?crop=2735,2735,x0,y455&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1770697702476","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10431388"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_83049","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":178,"numTeachers":15,"percentFrplEligible":13,"percentAsian":0,"percentBlack":0,"percentWhite":83,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":15,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","percentHawaiianImputed":0,"percentMultiracialImputed":0,"gradesServed":"K - 12","studentTeacherRatio":"11.9:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":false,"titleOne":false,"metroType":"RURAL","ncesMetroType":"RURAL_REMOTE"},"inStateSupporters":63.6,"schoolId":83049,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Smith Valley School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Smith Valley School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/nevada/lyon-county-school-district/smith-valley-school/83049"}
