They love guessing what each kit will be for and what lesson in the unit it will go with.\r\nMy gifted students are always curious beyond the grade level curriculum so we use these materials to investigate concepts that help explain the world around us. Students examined the many properties of water including things that they'll learn in middle school and high school but can at their age wonder at the phenomena. They did simple things like making water bulge up on top of a penny and making a paper clip float on top of the water. They also studied how different soils allow water to absorb or flow through and how water can travel upward through capillary action in plants. But, of course, the most fun was working together to create water tube inventions and pump water through them!\r\nWe keep these kits so that from year to year another group of gifted students can use them and teach others.","fullyFundedDate":1757502125638,"projectUrl":"project/grants-for-great-ideas-wonderful-world/9631445/","projectTitle":"Grants for Great Ideas: Wonderful World of Water","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Marsh","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/272x272/tp4928234_272x272.jpg?width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1510146761505","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/4928234"},{"teacherId":9093791,"projectId":9329387,"letterContent":"We wanted to reach out and thank you again for your generosity. Due to your help, our students have been able to work on independent work in their center rotations throughout the week. In math, they are using task boxes to complete independent practices on pre-taught math standards, to help improve their math fluency. In the reading nook, they are working on silent reading or read aloud for partner reading. In the Writing center, they practice everything from tracing to answering \"WH\" questions. And lastly, in the Word Builder Center they work on their Foundational pre-taught skills to improve their reading. Because this is all been modeled for them, they are able to complete tasks to the best of their abilities and improve with every opportunity. We would also like to thank you for our Chromebook charging station. It makes us feel better to have them all located in one central area, than in outlets all over the room. Because you have given us these opportunities, my students are learning to be more indepentant and it provides opportunities for me to work with other students that need more interventions in other areas.You have blessed our class and we appreciate it very much","fullyFundedDate":1748756782049,"projectUrl":"project/independence-and-individualism-through-c/9329387/","projectTitle":"Independence and Individualism Through Centers","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Callaway","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9093791_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1690666829512","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9093791"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_95773","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":695,"numTeachers":48,"percentFrplEligible":53,"percentAsian":0,"percentBlack":6,"percentWhite":77,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":10,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"Pre-K - 6","studentTeacherRatio":"14.5:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"SUBURBAN","ncesMetroType":"RURAL_FRINGE"},"inStateSupporters":80.7,"schoolId":95773,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Shadowlawn Elementary School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Shadowlawn Elementary School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/florida/clay-county-school-district/shadowlawn-elementary-school/95773"}
