You have brought or project to life! Currently, we have one fourth-grade class that is using the Bird Brain Coding kits. They are adding lights and decorations to their Tacky Light Houses (we had to pivot from Haunted Houses due to time, but hope to bring Haunted Houses to life next school year). Students are learning all about block coding in a fun and interactive way. Their projects have sparked the interest of many classes who are hoping to join in on the fun. The fourth-grade class plans to explain their project, coding, and design thinking process to a 2nd grade class. After this project is done, we are putting the Bird Brain kits in the MakerSpace. We know these will spark our students' creativity as they apply their critical thinking skills and problem solve.","fullyFundedDate":1755818949993,"projectUrl":"project/haunted-house-makerspace-coding-creati/9631250/","projectTitle":"Haunted House Makerspace: Coding, Creativity, and Collaboration","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Malzahn's STEAM Lab!","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp2676434_orig.jpg?crop=3024,3024,x510,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1596246382669","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/2676434"},{"teacherId":7375932,"projectId":9348041,"letterContent":"From the moment the first packages arrived, I am not sure who was more excited me or my students. We were blessed with an assortment of items to help get the year off on the right foot. This being my first year in third grade and the students having new standards, it was important to fill my classroom with hands on manipulatives, inviting decorations and incentives for the students. We have been using our math manipulatives from our first place value unit and for the many math units to come. The students keep asking what are we going to learn next? They know I am always pulling out something exciting from our cabinets. \r\n\r\nOur first unit in math was place value. Place value in third grade uses lots of visuals. We were able to use the magnetic place value blocks to build, model and identify place value together as a class. The students gained a deeper understanding by seeing and experiencing what they were learning. We celebrated the end of our unit with a \"Place Value Party\"! Students completed tasks to show off what they learned. We were able to full engage the students with the video game decorations and party favors. The smiles were talked about for days. \r\n\r\nDaily the students use the playdough for calming activities, math, science, social studies and time to just be creative. Our classroom community is amazing, students love receiving candy, stickers, and small prizes to celebrate their successes and kindness. \r\n\r\nWords cannot express out this project has helped to establish a love for learning that I will be able to carry out for the rest of this year and with students to come.","fullyFundedDate":1755700296081,"projectUrl":"project/creating-a-classroom-for-students-to-fee/9348041/","projectTitle":"Creating A Classroom For Students To Feel Welcome And Successful!","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Robinson","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp7375932_orig.jpg?crop=392,392,x0,y82&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1596364567245","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/7375932"},{"teacherId":8329075,"projectId":9518955,"letterContent":"We are already feeling the positive effects of these wonderful scooters. Here are some pictures of Hungry Hungry Hippos Math Review. Teams take turns being the \"Hippo\" on the scooter, and the \"Driver\" who navigates. Each ball they collect from the pool is another math question they can answer from their review packet. Teams work together to get all the ball colors needed to complete their packet, and help check each others work. As you can see, it's a fan-favorite at our school.\r\n\r\nWe are looking forward to next month's money game, inspired by the movie \"Cars\". During our Math Literacy Night for families, participants can choose their lap length for play money. How much money can you earn in 5 minutes worth of work? Can't wait to see some of our parents getting involved now that we have larger scooters!\r\n\r\nIn the spring, we become red blood cells and travel the body, delivering oxygen from the lungs, to all the working muscles.
