Your generosity has brought meaningful and engaging resources into our transitional kindergarten classroom, and my students have already begun to benefit from them in so many ways. When the materials first arrived, they were very excited. They were eager to explore the new books and couldn't wait to sit down together for story time. It was such a joyful moment watching them turn pages, point to pictures, and begin making connections to the stories.\r\n\r\nWe have been using books like Love Monster, The Very Hungry Caterpillar, and The Rainbow Fish during our daily read-alouds. These stories have helped my students build early literacy skills such as listening, predicting, and retelling. The colorful illustrations and simple, meaningful messages keep them engaged and excited about reading. The Bob Books set has been very helpful for introducing early phonics skills, giving students the opportunity to recognize letters, sounds, and simple words. The flannel board has quickly become a favorite center activity, where students use felt pieces to retell stories, build vocabulary, and practice sequencing events in a hands-on way.\r\n\r\nWe have also begun our butterfly life cycle project, and the students are already fascinated by the tiny caterpillars. Each day, they gather around to observe them closely, noticing changes and sharing their thoughts. Even though our butterflies are not fully grown yet, this has already sparked curiosity, conversation, and early science learning. Students are learning new vocabulary and practicing describing what they see using simple sentences and drawings.\r\n\r\nAs we continue this project, students will keep observing the caterpillars as they grow and change, and we will connect these experiences to our reading and writing activities. They will draw, label, and talk about each stage of the life cycle while continuing to build confidence as early readers.
