Throughout this school year we have used materials that were supplied during previously. The students use the Clorox Wipes to sanitize chairs in the classroom weekly. Adults in the room sanitize toys, and surface areas. It is May and the Kleenex we previously order is now ALL gone. To be honest, the students are not aware of why these things are important but thanks to PNC Bank, and other donors or classroom in consistently cleaned and sanitized. The ink for our classroom printer is essential to aide me as the teacher in so many areas. Thank you for continuously supporting the needs of our \"whole classroom\".\r\n\r\nYoung learners enjoy buiding structures, decorating paper and other materials. These students used sticky cubes to create skysrcappers, towers, car washes, and various types of buildings. The gems are a big hit with them as they decorate materials to create masterpieces and beautiful clothing designs. They were waiting for the surprise! When the boxes were placed on the floor, each student was provided an opportunity to either open the box or take an item out of it before transitioning to the next activity. \r\n\r\nMy students immediately began enjoying the tape dispenser. They used tape in the Writing Area to create masterpieces. They also use the tape to secure their artwork to the wall. The scissors allowed students with limited fine motor skills to build their confidence in cutting on a straight line. \r\n\r\nOn Detroit Day (313=March 13th, students were able to use the cubes and other materials to decorate a few t-shirts with groups of three. The books were given to students at the end of the school year to offer learning experiences during the summer break. \r\n\r\nThe books included math activities such as counting, patterns, shape identification, and characteristics. Although addition and subtraction were not included, patterns are our last step. We introduce addition and subtraction; however, these are not skills to be mastered. \r\n\r\nIn my classroom read read-aloud time consists of:\r\n1. A brief introduction to the story.\r\n2. We ask questions like, \"What does the author and illustrator contribute to the story?\" 3. Students are engaged; they are asking or answering questions.\r\n4. Students and teachers talk about punctuation marks and the direction of reading text. ( left to right/top to bottom)\r\n5. There is a summation of the story afterwards (Student-led)\r\n6.
