At the Sarasota Military Academy, we are attempting to provide an opportunity for students to study radio and wireless communications technologies and to earn their first amateur radio licenses. Once my students have a callsign and a license to operate on the radio, our school will provide them the technology to use on-campus, but my desire was to have equipment I could check out to them for use at home and away from the school. Your support has checked that priority off of my to-do list!\r\n\r\nAs a public charter school, we receive no support from our school district to pilot new student programs. When our academy started down this track, I was initially skeptical about my ability to gain access to the kinds of materials and resources I would need in order to offer a program that would interest my high school students. Your support, and the support of numerous other foundations and individuals, has filled me with a rekindled faith in public support for education.
