Our students can connect with Elie's experiences and begin to understand the impact of discrimination, and persecution. It will encourage critical thinking by examining the difficult questions about morality, survival, identity, faith, and human behavior. This book will also strengthen reading skills as they analyze characterization, theme, symbolism, tone, imagery, and author's purpose. \r\n\r\nOverall, Night will help 9th graders move beyond simply learning facts about the Holocaust and develop a deeper understanding of the human consequences of historical events. It challenges students to think critically, empathize with others, recognize the dangers of prejudice, and consider their own responsibility when they encounter injustice.","fullyFundedDate":1787137499601,"projectUrl":"project/night-by-elie-wiesel/10452485/","projectTitle":"Night by Elie Wiesel","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Franklin","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-3_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10578505"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_9028","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":1310,"numTeachers":85,"percentFrplEligible":55,"percentAsian":0,"percentBlack":0,"percentWhite":67,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":28,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","percentHawaiianImputed":0,"percentMultiracialImputed":1,"gradesServed":"9 - 12","studentTeacherRatio":"15.4:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"SUBURBAN","ncesMetroType":"SUBURB_MIDSIZE"},"inStateSupporters":66.7,"schoolId":9028,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Santa Fe High School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Santa Fe High School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/texas/santa-fe-independent-school-district/santa-fe-high-school/9028"}
