With your help we were able to build a class set of scientific calculators that enable our students to analyze data from our course experiments. While there are some students who have their own scientific calculators, not all of the students have one. When all students have access to these calculators they are able to better describe the story the data tells by allowing them to calculate really large numbers, really small numbers, natural logs, and express their results in scientific notation. All of these are best practices for research scientists and mathematicians.\r\n\r\nThe most exciting aspect to the students using the calculators is that they all communicate with each other using the same mathematical language and processes. They like that they can teach each other how to find functions, apply their mathematical skills to novel situations and no one feels left out because they do not have the same calculator with the same capabilities as a classmate's.","fullyFundedDate":1755732082884,"projectUrl":"project/help-me-build-a-class-set-of-calculators/9555537/","projectTitle":"Help Me Build a Class Set of Calculators","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Miller-Moody","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-4_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/4394906"},{"teacherId":8544385,"projectId":9307497,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for your generous donations!\r\n\r\nWe sublimated some images printed from our sublimation printer and heat pressed them onto some fabric. I've been dreaming of hosting a school-wide Wellness Week with my student leaders for months. I was nervous we wouldn't have the funds to bring it to life—but thanks to DonorsChoose, and donors like you, we were able to make it happen. And what a fantastic success it was!\r\n\r\nThis was the busiest I've seen our campus when it comes to student engagement with wellness and mental health since I joined the school.\r\n\r\nOne of our events featured bracelet-making, where students created meaningful pieces for themselves and their friends. At the same time, they connected with visiting community organizations, gathered wellness resources, and learned more about the support systems available to them and their peers.\r\n\r\nAnother day, we offered DIY self-care kits. Thanks to you, students were able to pick out fidgets, stickers, and snacks to add to their care packages—thoughtful tokens that they either kept or shared with someone they cared about.\r\n\r\nThe Palm Pals (especially the little cows!) were an absolute hit.\r\n\r\nEven our school administrators stopped by to participate and show their support. It truly felt like the entire school came together in celebration of wellness.\r\n\r\nAnd we're especially grateful for the chalkboard sign! Instead of printing flyers for one-time use, students were able to share event details on the board—saving paper, ink, and time.\r\n\r\nIn short—thank you, donors.
