One memorable moment happened just last week: after a particularly loud and high-energy indoor recess, a group of students gravitated toward the coloring area. Within minutes, the classroom transformed into a calm and focused space. They were quietly coloring, sharing crayons, and even discussing the artwork they were creating. It was a small but powerful reminder of how meaningful these resources are in helping students reset and return to learning with a clearer, calmer mindset.\r\n\r\nThe students were genuinely thrilled when they first saw the new materials. Their eyes lit up as they flipped through the pages of the coloring books, and many asked, \"Are these really for us?\" There was an immediate sense of excitement and appreciation. Some students even started coloring right away, settling into their seats with quiet focus—something that doesn't always come easily in a busy classroom. Their reactions confirmed how important and needed these resources are for their well-being.\r\n\r\nWe are currently working on a social-emotional learning unit focused on self-awareness and managing stress. The coloring materials are now part of a larger routine that supports this unit. After journaling or discussing a stressful scenario, students have the option to color as a way to process their thoughts and emotions. The next step is to have students create their own simple mindfulness coloring pages with affirmations that reflect their personal growth. This will not only reinforce their emotional vocabulary but also give them ownership of their calming space.","fullyFundedDate":1746787380822,"projectUrl":"project/coloring-for-calm-a-creative-way-to-unw/9081182/","projectTitle":"Coloring for Calm: A Creative Way to Unwind","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Cheng","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp1359942_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1579875571184","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/1359942"},{"teacherId":9355538,"projectId":9067478,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for supporting our classroom. Having a clear visual reference made a big difference, and I noticed more students confidently attempting problems without hesitation.\r\n\r\nWhen my students first saw the posters and stickers, their reactions were a mix of curiosity and excitement. Some immediately pointed out elements they recognized, while others asked questions about the designs. The stickers, especially those with fun chemistry puns and periodic table elements, quickly became a motivator—students wanted to earn them as rewards for participation and effort.\r\n\r\nLooking ahead, my students are diving deeper into molecular structures and intermolecular forces. The visuals will continue to support their learning as they build models and analyze how structure affects properties.
