I keep them available for students who need a little something before or during class, and it has been wonderful to see how something so simple can help students settle in and focus on learning.\r\n\r\nOne moment that really stood out to me was seeing a student come into class clearly distracted and having a hard time getting started. After grabbing a snack, they were able to settle in and participate in the lesson. It was a simple reminder that sometimes students need us to meet a basic need before they can fully focus on the academic task in front of them.\r\n\r\nThey were excited! Snacks may not seem like a big deal to adults, but to students, seeing that there was something available for them made an immediate impact. There was definitely excitement when they realized the snacks were for our classroom.\r\nMore importantly, I think the snacks communicated something bigger: You matter, and we want you to be successful. That sense of being cared for can go a long way, especially for students who have experienced frustration or setbacks in school.\r\n\r\nWe are continuing to work on building the reading skills they need to be successful across all of their classes. Our focus includes reading comprehension, vocabulary, fluency, and learning how to approach challenging texts without giving up. My goal is to help my students become more confident readers and recognize their own growth. We will continue practicing strategies, working through challenging passages, discussing what we read, and celebrating those small wins along the way.\r\n\r\nI am so grateful to the donors who made this project possible. The snacks are helping remove one more barrier from the classroom and allowing my students to come in, feel supported, and focus on becoming stronger readers.","fullyFundedDate":1789575093990,"projectUrl":"project/nourishing-minds-building-readers/10526642/","projectTitle":"Nourishing Minds, Building Readers","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Suggs","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp8471059_orig.jpg?crop=1284,1284,x0,y149&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1733789829417","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/8471059"},{"teacherId":10011363,"projectId":10266874,"letterContent":"Because of You...\r\n\r\nThank you for investing in our students and supporting our classroom!
