Middle School can be a tough time physically, mentally, and emotionally. My students are struggling below grade level in reading and I want to provide them with a variety of reading materials for our classroom discussions that include relevant articles and excellent reader's theatre plays for fluency and comprehension building. This includes multi-cultural texts to help students connect with other people's experiences and cultures. If we can provide them with the tools and knowledge they need to succeed, they will! These materials will make a great addition to our classroom bookshelves. While students have the opportunity to check books out from our school library, many classrooms are students' 'homebase'. This is where they 'check in' in the morning, where they have built community with classmates, where they go to eat lunch, and where they learn. As teachers, we've spent hours building relationships with our students and they are amazing individuals.
