We've been able to use the big whiteboards for many different tasks. The most popular with students has been for \"thinking tasks and grapple time\" in math. Kids work collaboratively to solve different math tasks, and as they are successful, they are given a change to make, which changes the task. These opportunities give the students time to talk and problem solve with peers. \r\n\r\nWe've also made great use of the collaborative games. These are an option during our learning lab time. Students gravitate towards the game, and have learned some amazing collaborative skills as they work together to \"win\" the game.\r\n\r\nThis year has been a great year for learning all about collaboration and cooperation, and the materials you helped purchase are key tools that are supporting this growth. Your generosity brought a wonderful collection of read-aloud books into our classroom, and they have already made a remarkable difference in our learning environment.\r\n\r\nThe students were immediately captivated. They laughed, engaged deeply with the stories, and even asked for several of the books to be read again and again. These read-alouds have helped them better understand our knowledge building curriculum, especially the social-emotional learning portion, and I've already seen them begin to apply those skills during our lab activities.\r\n\r\nOther books introduced students to inventors, builders, and the creative process. Through these stories, they gained a clearer understanding of how ideas grow from initial planning to problem-solving to final creation.
