Because of your kindness, over 200 resilient and motivated middle school students now have access to a tool that is quite literally a lifeline for their academic success.\r\n\r\nAs the ESOL chair, I see my students work incredibly hard every day to master complex scientific concepts and math problems in a language they are still learning. This project addresses a critical gap in their education: the ability to practice with the tools they are allowed to use on state testing days.\r\n\r\nYour generosity is making an immediate impact in three major ways:\r\n\r\nBuilding Essential Familiarity: On state testing days, these dictionaries are permitted, but they are only effective if students know how to navigate them. By having 150 dictionaries distributed across our English, reading, and content area classrooms, our students can now build that familiarity daily. They will walk into their state exams feeling prepared and capable, rather than anxious and overwhelmed.\r\n\r\nFostering Independent Learning: These dictionaries empower my students to become independent scholars. Instead of waiting for a teacher to translate a difficult word, they can now take the initiative to look up academic vocabulary on their own. This autonomy is vital for their growth and builds their confidence to participate more fully in classroom discussions.\r\n\r\nCreating an Equitable Environment: Our students come from diverse backgrounds worldwide, bringing rich cultural experiences to our school. Your support ensures that their hard work is not hindered by a lack of resources. It levels the playing field, allowing them to show what they truly know and understand in subjects like science and social studies.\r\n\r\nThank you for believing in our students and for providing the bridge they need to succeed. You have given them more than just dictionaries; you have given them a voice and the tools to unlock their own potential.","fullyFundedDate":1760632852842,"projectUrl":"project/unlock-the-words-to-success-dictionarie/9768004/","projectTitle":"Unlock the Words to Success: Dictionaries for English Language Learners!","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Jordan","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp4921609_orig.jpg?crop=271,271,x33,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1628693792091","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/f-jordan"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_54702","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":374,"numTeachers":29,"percentFrplEligible":51,"percentAsian":1,"percentBlack":0,"percentWhite":1,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":97,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","percentHawaiianImputed":0,"percentMultiracialImputed":0,"gradesServed":"6 - 8","studentTeacherRatio":"12.9:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"URBAN","ncesMetroType":"SUBURB_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":63.0,"schoolId":54702,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Ruben Dario Middle School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Ruben Dario Middle School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/florida/miami-dade-county-public-schools/ruben-dario-middle-school/54702"}
