During this projects students were exposed to a diverse range of literature that captured the differences and similarities around the immigration experience. Book were purchases for immigration book groups that were facilitated by parent volunteers. \r\n\r\nAfter visiting Angel Island students created a watercolor art project with poems inspired by the field trip and various readings about Angel Island. Students also researched about California before the Westward Expansion and the Gold Rush. After learning about the California natural regions, they learned about a tribe in that region and what resources were important to them. \r\n\r\nWe are not putting on a Gold Rush simulation for friends and family to teach others about how California changed because of the Gold Rush.
