Game development is such a wonderful outlet for that excitement because it brings together programming, art, storytelling, critical thinking, and teamwork in a way that feels genuinely rewarding. With the laptops, mice, and controllers provided through this project, our new club has the equipment needed to give students hands-on experience with the entire creative process, from brainstorming their first ideas to building, testing, and refining playable games.\r\n\r\nYour support has given our students so much more than new technology. You've helped create an opportunity for them to explire their interests, build valuable skills, make connections with peers, and discover passions that may even shape their futures.","fullyFundedDate":1779480388195,"projectUrl":"project/powering-student-creativity-through-our/10295588/","projectTitle":"Powering Student Creativity Through our New Game Development Club","teacherDisplayName":"Mr. Marino","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp10514349_orig.jpg?crop=360,360,x0,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1779118154981","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10514349"},{"teacherId":5295107,"projectId":10623751,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for supporting our **No Phones, No Problem! Game On in the Library** project! With students spending more of the school day without their phones, I wanted to make sure they had something fun to do that would actually bring them together. The games have been a great addition to the library. Students are using them during free periods and downtime, and it has been really nice to see them sitting around a table talking, laughing, and playing together instead of just staring at a screen.\r\n\r\nThe students were excited as soon as they saw the new games. Some recognized games they already knew, while others immediately wanted to learn something new. I have especially enjoyed seeing students teach each other how to play or invite someone else to join in. Those little moments of connection are exactly what I hoped this project would encourage.\r\n\r\nGoing forward, the games will continue to be available for students to use throughout the school year. My goal is for the library to be a place where students can relax, spend time with friends, meet new people, and find something enjoyable to do even without a phone in their hand. Thank you for helping make that possible.","fullyFundedDate":1789663161463,"projectUrl":"project/no-phones-no-problem-game-on-in-the-li/10623751/","projectTitle":"No Phones? No Problem! Through the generosity of DonorsChoose donors, I have been able to create a classroom where students can discover new interests, build confidence, and learn through hands-on experiences.\r\n Most importantly, DonorsChoose has shown my students that people outside of our school believe in them and want them to succeed. That support means more than simply receiving new supplies. It tells my students that their education, talents, and futures matter. Your generosity has given my students much more than a piano or a piece of equipment—you have given them access, opportunity, confidence, and a chance to discover something new about themselves.\r\n\r\n As a music teacher, one of the most rewarding moments is watching a student who initially says, \"I can't do this,\" eventually sit down at the piano and play something on their own. Because of your donation, meaningful learning is happening every day in our classroom, and we are excited to share the impact you have helped create.\r\n\r\nRecently, we began a new unit focused on practical life skills—specifically learning how to shop and compare prices. Using the bulletin board activity purchased with your donation, students are actively engaging in hands-on lessons that make real-world concepts accessible and meaningful. This interactive resource has transformed an abstract idea into something concrete, visual, and fun. Students are not just learning about money; they are learning how to make thoughtful decisions.\r\nThrough this activity, students are learning how to navigate both department stores and grocery stores. They are practicing how to identify items, compare prices, and determine what best fits within a budget. These skills are essential for daily living, and for many students, this is their first opportunity to safely practice them in a structured and supportive environment. Each lesson builds familiarity and reduces anxiety about real-world shopping experiences.\r\n\r\nOne of the most impactful skills students are learning is the \"next dollar up\" strategy when purchasing items. This method helps students understand how much money they need to pay when exact change is not required, a crucial skill for independence. Watching students confidently count money, round up to the next dollar, and complete a purchase scenario has been incredibly rewarding. What once felt overwhelming is now becoming routine—and empowering.\r\nIn addition, your donation has provided students with access to task cards that allow them to practice these life skills independently. These task cards encourage problem-solving, responsibility, and self-confidence. Students can work at their own pace, repeat skills as needed, and take ownership of their learning. This independence is helping them grow not only academically, but personally.\r\n\r\nBecause of your generosity, our students are gaining skills they will use for the rest of their lives. They are becoming stronger, more confident, and better prepared for adulthood. Your support is not just funding materials—it is opening doors, building independence, and shaping futures.\r\n\r\nThank you for investing in our students and believing in their potential. We are deeply grateful for your continued support and the lasting impact you are making in our classroom.","fullyFundedDate":1759265983727,"projectUrl":"project/from-classroom-to-career-life-skills-re/9725108/","projectTitle":"From Classroom to Career: Life Skills Resources Needed!","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Cogswell","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-2_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10268322"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_82316","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":580,"numTeachers":53,"percentFrplEligible":56,"percentAsian":4,"percentBlack":8,"percentWhite":25,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":60,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","percentHawaiianImputed":0,"percentMultiracialImputed":0,"gradesServed":"9 - 12","studentTeacherRatio":"10.9:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"SUBURBAN","ncesMetroType":"SUBURB_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":84.6,"schoolId":82316,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Roselle Park High School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Roselle Park High School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/new-jersey/roselle-park-school-district/roselle-park-high-school/82316"}
