My students always do their best creating when they have an instrument in their hands! Xylophones would allow my students to play familiar melodies while learning how music is organized into patterns. They will learn about major and pentatonic scales and will be able to transfer that knowledge to other instruments in the future! I currently do not have enough xylophones for each student to be able to express themselves and create their own melodies. Students will be given a simple, familiar melody, such as "Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star" and will learn to play that melody on the xylophones using their ears to audiate and determine the correct melody. They will then learn to notate that song on staff paper and then will have the opportunity to make some variations using their creativity. Finally, they can then have a classmate play their new composition!
The donations for this project would help my students become more fluent and familiar with how to compose, create, and read music while performing with their peers!
My students will begin to see themselves as true musicians and composers. We will use these xylophones to help create a love of learning for al lifetime! I truly need your support to make this a reality. Thanks!
