Vision systems like this allow robots to detect objects, measure distance, and make decisions automatically. My students use the cameras to detect AprilTag markers on the field and then write code that allows the robot to automatically track targets. Through this process, they learn programming, computer vision, data analysis, and control systems—skills that are used in fields such as robotics, aerospace, and autonomous vehicles.\r\n\r\nWhat excites students most is seeing the robot actually respond to the code they wrote. When the camera detects a target and the robot automatically turns, aims, or adjusts itself, students immediately see the connection between their programming and the robot's actions. Those moments are powerful because they make engineering real and engaging. They love being able to capture moments from activities in our classroom and in the community. Taking photos helps them document their experiences, reflect on what they are learning, and share those moments with others. It has encouraged creativity, observation, and pride in the things they accomplish throughout the day.\r\n\r\nThe storage containers for snacks have helped us organize and run our classroom business more effectively. We wanted to share a look at how your gift is coming to life in our students' hands.\r\n\r\nWhile we all enjoy a good plot, teaching these texts involves moving beyond \"what happened\" to \"why it matters.\" We are currently using these books to teach Critical Media Literacy. In an era of constant information, our students are learning to deconstruct perspectives, analyze the author's intent, and identify whose voices are centered in a narrative.\r\n\r\nThese books serve as both mirrors, validating students' experiences, and windows, offering them a view into lives and cultures vastly different from their own.\r\n\r\nOne of the highlights of our current curriculum is George Orwell's Animal Farm. It has been rewarding to watch the students engage with this text. While it's a staple of literature, the way we \"read\" it today is highly interactive. Students aren't just reading about farm animals; they are mapping the characters to real-world power dynamics and historical events. Students are making incredible leaps, comparing the propaganda used by Squealer to the digital \"echo chambers\" they see on social media today.\r\n\r\n Several students who previously found reading \"boring\" have been captivated by the political intrigue and fast pace of Animal Farm. They have discovered that literature can be a \"survival guide\" for understanding the world, not just a school assignment.\r\n\r\nWe are so grateful for your partnership in cultivating this next generation of thinkers.","fullyFundedDate":1766950760705,"projectUrl":"project/lit-happens-in-english-ii/9950980/","projectTitle":"Lit Happens in English II","teacherDisplayName":"Mr. Lopez","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp10378830_orig.jpg?crop=3024,3024,x0,y504&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1765230545410","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10378830"},{"teacherId":5166098,"projectId":9903971,"letterContent":"Thank you for your generous snack donation!
