Instead of getting bogged down by lengthy arithmetic, they can focus on interpreting results, analyzing patterns, and developing problem-solving strategies. This shift supports higher-order thinking and allows students to tackle more complex, real-world applications with confidence.\r\n\r\nWhat excites students most about the newer models is their design. The features like upgraded displays, simple menu navigation, and graphing or table-generation capabilities make math feel more interactive and accessible. Students who previously struggled tend to respond especially well, as the technology reduces frustration and helps them check their reasoning step-by-step. These calculators empower students to feel more capable, independent, and motivated in their learning.","fullyFundedDate":1755750214671,"projectUrl":"project/scientific-calculator-for-math-success/9514913/","projectTitle":"Scientific Calculator for Math Success","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Ojeda","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-8_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10100115"},{"teacherId":1324070,"projectId":9536469,"letterContent":"Thank you for your thoughtful donation. I also can use it to take pictures of student work samples quite efficiently. The tablet allow me to be more mobile within my own classroom, which helps student learning.\r\n\r\nLastly, my students and I are very grateful for the purchase of the air quality monitors. The printer was delivered last Thursday (8/21) and immediately has been put to good use. Guided notes, assignments, graphic organizers, and simple notes have all been printed and distributed to students, giving them a more time to focus on learning and lessened their burden on trying to decipher what the smudge in the ink is trying to say. On the donor photos page, you'll see some side-by-side photos of my old printer on a really good day and the new printer on economy/toner saver mode. The difference is quite drastic on the lesson outline I printed out as I had to pause and try to figure out what I had written.\r\n\r\nOur first two weeks of school have finished and I am glad to be able to tell you that the new printer has been more impactful than expected. This year, we have had a lot of new students coming and out of our program well past the first few days of school and with a limited budget, we generally make only enough copies for students on our roster. When a new student comes into the class and lets me know that they were just added to my class a few minutes earlier, having this new printer allows me to make sure that I can equip the new student with the material they need instead of me telling them to wait, or asking my neighbor to watch my students as I run to the copy room and printing out another copy. This is normally a situation where one or two students gets added throughout the whole first month, but we've had additions of nearly every day this year.\r\n\r\nThe one complaint I have heard from students whispering under their breath as we transitioned to the new printer was, \"I can't blame the paper for not seeing the problem now.\" That complaint, is the best compliment we can give here. Students gained access to a platform that was both familiar and exciting, making school a place where their passions and education intersected. By integrating esports into our curriculum, students strengthened teamwork and leadership skills by competing in teams, practicing clear communication, and building trust. They enhanced strategic thinking and problem-solving through games that required quick decisions, adaptability, and forward planning. This project also fostered inclusivity by creating a competitive space where students of all abilities could participate equally, ensuring no one was left out. Most importantly, it built confidence and a sense of belonging as students saw their contributions valued within a team and the broader school community. Beyond the immediate excitement of gaming, this project cultivated essential 21st-century skills — collaboration, critical thinking, digital literacy, and resilience — turning play into purposeful learning and empowering students to see themselves as innovators, leaders, and active participants in their own education.","fullyFundedDate":1723675741517,"projectUrl":"project/game-on-transforming-education-with-nin/8462130/","projectTitle":"Game On! The arrival of these texts has brought an incredible amount of excitement and enthusiasm to our classroom, and I'm thrilled to share how we're engaging with these new additions.\r\n\r\nThe books you provided offer a unique opportunity for our students to delve into the works of authors of color, allowing them to explore diverse perspectives, themes, and experiences that often resonate deeply with their own lives. Through these texts, we are introducing critical skills such as analyzing complex characters, identifying and interpreting themes, and understanding the historical and cultural contexts that shape literature. Additionally, we emphasize how an author's use of language and literary devices contributes to the overall message and emotional impact of a work. These lessons not only prepare students for the AP exam but also encourage critical thinking and empathy—skills that will serve them well beyond the classroom.\r\n\r\nReading in our classroom is a dynamic and collaborative process. Students participate in small book clubs, where they discuss their interpretations, ask questions, and connect the literature to their own experiences. They also engage in guided reading activities and Socratic seminars, fostering both individual analysis and group dialogue. Many students are deeply inspired by seeing their identities and communities reflected in the stories we're reading, which has sparked insightful conversations and increased their passion for literature. These moments highlight the transformative power of representation and how your donation has made a meaningful impact on our classroom community.\r\n\r\nThank you once again for your thoughtful contribution.
