My students attend a Magnet school, taking a bus extra early in the morning and not arriving home until after 4:00pm. Bright, funny, creative, caring, and all-around amazing young adults, these students strive to achieve despite the limited resources afforded them. And, although they recognize the limited resources, they continue to dream big and work hard. Unfortunately, the average reading level of an incoming ninth-grader here is only at the fourth grade level, and the expectations of writing are almost non-existent.
