With this gift, our students will work together to design, build and test roller coasters. In the design phase, students will learn about physics - force and motion and put that knowledge to the test when designing their roller coaster.\r\n\r\nDuring the design phase, students will have to work together to put their ideas into practice. This is an amazing opportunity to build Social Emotional Learning (SEL) skills. Students will have to both communicate and listen to others to come up with the best design and then build that design. The next stage is for student teams to test their designs. Here they will see what works and what didn't work. From that information, they can adapt and change their design and building strategies. This hands-on activity reflects so many opportunities in education and work - coming up with a plan, communicating that plan and implementation. The students practice math skills using an online personalized, interactive program tailored to each student's skills. They also use them to read books at their level online. In addition, we use them to take assessments three times a year. We will look at patterns in weather to help us make more accurate predictions. \r\n\r\n We do a unit study on weather in primary and intermediate, so your gift will impact every student as they move through the grades at our school. These items are also long-lasting and should allow for the research and study of weather for many years to come. My students are so excited when they report the weather from our digital weather station. They get to determine what direction the wind is coming from, they get to share the amount of precipitation, and they can share the temperature. The weather unit allows for lots of hands-on learning and promotes student recording of data, putting that data to use, and making predictions. Because of you, my diverse third-grade classroom now has a full set of brand-new headphones, and the impact has been immediate and profound. While many people use headphones at home for entertainment, in our classroom, they are a vital tool for focused learning. They create a personal learning bubble for each child, reducing the everyday distractions of a busy room so every student can truly immerse themselves in their work. This is especially critical for our daily online math curriculum and our weekly individualized reading lessons, where deep concentration is key to building strong skills and comprehension.\r\n\r\nMy students absolutely love their new headphones! We were able to use them for our beginning-of-year assessments, and it was such a blessing to have headphones that are not only new but also work perfectly. The most exciting thing for them is simply having a tool that makes their learning easier. They can now fully engage with the audio and content of their online lessons without straining to hear. We've already seen how much this benefits students who might get overwhelmed by noise, allowing them to feel more comfortable and confident in their learning. Having these reliable, high-quality tools has empowered every single student to access and thrive in their digital learning.\r\n\r\nYour support has truly unlocked deeper engagement and equitable access for all my wonderful third graders. These headphones aren't just accessories; they are essential tools that are already making a huge difference. We are so grateful for your belief in my students and your commitment to their success.","fullyFundedDate":1745797244533,"projectUrl":"project/listening-up-headphones-for-focused-thi/9287941/","projectTitle":"Listening Up! We used the Legos to build marble movers when studying physics and in our unit on structures. Also included in this grant was a straw construction kit. These flexible building materials have allowed the kids to create more complex designs when we study structures. It was difficult to get the students to put down their materials.\r\nOur winter is cold and dark, and we look forward to our new unit on plants where we will grow our own vegetables using the Aero Garden we received.
