We are using the new interactive play materials during our choice time and small group rotations to build language, collaboration, and problem-solving skills. One of my favorite moments was watching a small group of students create a pretend \"community grocery store.\" They worked together to assign roles, write signs, count play money, and solve disagreements independently. The level of conversation, creativity, and teamwork was incredible to witness.\r\n\r\nWhen the students first saw the materials, their eyes lit up. There were cheers, gasps, and so many eager questions. They immediately began exploring, building, and imagining together. Even some of my quieter students jumped right in, finding their voice through pretend play and hands-on exploration. The excitement has not worn off. They ask every day if it is time for play centers.\r\n\r\nNext, we are building on this momentum by connecting our play themes to our literacy and math units. As we study community helpers and nonfiction text features, students will continue using dramatic play to deepen their understanding while practicing writing, counting, and cooperative skills. Your generosity has given my students more than materials. It has given them confidence, connection, and joyful learning experiences that will carry far beyond kindergarten.","fullyFundedDate":1769913536472,"projectUrl":"project/play-matters-supporting-social-and-emot/10068276/","projectTitle":"Play Matters: Supporting Social and Emotional Growth","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Nichols","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-10_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9079619"},{"teacherId":8893422,"projectId":9667200,"letterContent":"I can't thank you enough for the donation of two new parachutes for my students in grades K-5. I had the parachutes spread out on the gym floor before each class walked in. As soon as students started walking in, they were oooing and ahhing! So exited!\r\n\r\nThe kindergarten classes had never played with a parachute before and were amazed at how large they are and all of the games that can be played. Their favorite is making a tent with it and sitting underneath. Once it's set as a tent, there is enough room for students to walk around.\r\n\r\nNow that I have new parachutes, I can incorporate them in my activities more often. I also plan to use them during Field Day in May. My students and their families that attend field day will be thrilled. I'm truly blessed by this donation.","fullyFundedDate":1763674789658,"projectUrl":"project/everybodys-favoriteparachute/9667200/","projectTitle":"Everybody's Favorite...Parachute!","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Nunnally","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-2_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/8893422"},{"teacherId":9079619,"projectId":9134483,"letterContent":"With your help, my classroom is now filled with engaging, manipulative literacy resources that are having a huge impact on my students; especially my newcomers. From the first time materials were received, faces were beaming and eyes were shining with wonder. A student overflowed to exclaim, \"This is a game!\" while sorting through bright color phonics manipulatives. That joy quickly turned into focus and motivation as they dove into literacy centers and small group activities designed to strengthen their reading and phonics skills.\r\n\r\nWe've been using the new materials during our daily literacy rotations, where students work in small groups tailored to their reading levels. One of the moments that stood out was during the middle of a phonics activity when a child who had been struggling sounding out basic CVC words was reading sentences and blending sounds with confidence at the end of class. These tools aren't only catching them where they'er at but also making them feel like a success; and that's wonderful to witness. It's making them more accountable for their learning and proud of what they can accomplish. \r\n\r\nThanks for making this a reality; you've helped provide my students not just resources, but a new sense of confidence and possibility.","fullyFundedDate":1741046080862,"projectUrl":"project/building-strong-readers/9134483/","projectTitle":"Building Strong Readers","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Nichols","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-10_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9079619"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_53452","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":318,"numTeachers":27,"percentFrplEligible":64,"percentAsian":2,"percentBlack":2,"percentWhite":14,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":78,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"K - 5","studentTeacherRatio":"11.8:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"SUBURBAN","ncesMetroType":"SUBURB_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":61.6,"schoolId":53452,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Rocky Mountain Elementary School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Rocky Mountain Elementary School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/colorado/adams-12-five-star-schools/rocky-mountain-elementary-school/53452"}
