Students slide the basket out, bring it to the carpet, play, and when it's time put everything back in the bin. Then they simply put it back into the cart. Then if I have to move it, I simply unlock the wheels and roll it to whichever place I need. We have Resource/Inclusion and two Self-Contained classrooms and the children have been so excited to try the new materials. \r\nThe new books are so high-quality and sturdy and will last in the classroom for many years. One of the self-contained teacher is highlighting two of the books in her Ocean theme this week and the children really love them. She has used them both in her all-group teaching and in her centers and the children are so interested and engaged. As the Resource/Inclusion Teacher, I am using the touch-and-feel books to build vocabulary and descriptive language during my push-in time. Because students especially love the sensory books they are much more excited about literacy lessons as a result! \r\nThe sensory math items are a huge hit and are also wonderful for engaging the children with fine motor skill activities as well as counting and number recognition. The touch-and-feel quality to the sandpaper numbers (and letters) is wonderful at engaging the children with Autism into learning activities both in our Self-Contained and Resource/Inclusion programs. The little alien counters are a huge hit and the children have found much more interest in sorting/same-different/more-less during our time with math concept building activities. The pop-it ten-frames are also a wonderful tool that the children are so happy to use in our math lessons.\r\nThe pop-it emotions are also a wonderful, kinesthetic activity for children to choose how they are feeling and connect with their emotions.
