We are almost out of birdseed. Home Depot had generously donated supplies twice, but unfortunately, we are running out of birdseed. \r\n\r\nToday, we restarted our outdoor classroom. The 2nd-grade students I took out were excited. We identified 4 separate bird songs. It was hard for them to keep quiet, but they learned a valuable lesson about staying still. Just as we were wrapping up our observation, for the first time, birds came to the feeder! Lots of birds!! The students could barely contain themselves. Some students were surmising that the little birds were the babies. I was able to get a picture of the birds, so our next step is to identify them and determine whether the little birds were indeed the babies. In addition to identifying the songs, I am proud that the students were able to articulate that different groups of birds flew in different patterns.
