Because of your donation, all of my students are able to find a book of their interest and their specific reading level. There is a little something for everyone. I would not have been able to provide this for them without you. \r\nWe have a special day where we read with flash lights. We call this \"Flashlight Friday\"; students are able to find a cozy reading spot around the room, and read their books when the big lights go off, with their flashlights. They love this. Our second favorite reading activity is \"First Chapter Friday\" where I read the first chapter to the class, and this builds their curiosity for the remainder of the book. \r\nThrough your donation, I am able to build confident readers. The transition to third grade is a big one. This is where students begin to build their interest and confidence in reading. That all starts in the classroom, when they are able to find books they enjoy and feel confident reading. \r\nWatching my students find books of their interest, and seeing their faces light up with they tell me about their book is truly rewarding. As a veteran teacher I want to keep my classroom fresh and fun! I am so excited to have new books to teach reading skills to my students. The process worked seamlessly once funding was complete! \r\n\r\nI teach over 500 children in grades kindergarten through fourth grade and serving that many children requires a lot of creativity! The concept of my class is fairly new, I teach art and reading combined. My class is called A.R.T. (Art and Reading Together) I use assessment data and work with teachers to teach reading concepts that are high level for the children. I use the test data and work to introduce concepts to the children to increase their knowledge and stretch them to understand higher level concepts. Generous donors like yourselves make my job so much easier!
