My students need active learning stools, seat cushions, yoga chairs, and wiggle cushions to increase our alternative seating options in our 4th grade classroom. By providing variation in my students' seating, I also greatly increase their motivation! With the stools, cushions, yoga balls, and wiggle cushions I have requested in this project, I can offer my students more choices in where they sit throughout the day to complete learning tasks. By having alternative seating in the classroom students are free to make a choice of which seating arrangement is best for their learning. By giving them a choice I am helping them begin to learn how to make appropriate choices to make them more successful in the classroom. This also helps reduce the amount of behavior problems that can happen in the classroom. By having alternative seating students have their own space to spread out and have room to work. Having alternative seating also helps with engagement. By having higher engagement students will be more successful. By donating you will help the learning environment of our classroom by giving my students more choice. By giving them more choice it will help empower them to make better choices and become more successful learners in the classroom. I feel it is important to maintain some traditional seating, but to also provide for a variety of alternatives so that throughout the day my students can make choices that will support their concentration and motivation. Adults like a variety of seating options throughout the day and my students do, too! I hope you will share my vision for increasing motivation for my students by providing more variation to their seating choices.
