As a school-based speech-language pathologist, this support means more than you know. This year, legislative changes removed my access to instructional materials funding because it was restricted to \"classroom teachers.\" Although I serve a full caseload of students—often more than a traditional classroom—and provide instruction in my own classroom, my work was no longer considered eligible.\r\n\r\nYour generosity filled that unexpected gap. The reinforcements, prizes, and treats you helped provide play such an important role in motivating my students. Every day, I work with children on skills that are genuinely hard for them—communication, language, speech sounds, social skills—areas that require patience, practice, and confidence. Having meaningful, exciting reinforcers helps keep them engaged and proud of their progress.\r\n\r\nBecause of you, my students will continue to have the positive, encouraging environment they need to grow. Thank you for valuing their success and for supporting the work I do with them. My students are using the rug, beanbag chair, books, and games to learn and practice strategies for handling big feelings. \r\n\r\nWhen the materials first arrived, my students' faces lit up. They rushed to try the beanbag chair and flipped through the books with excitement. I am excited to use our new games to teach them how to deal with big feelings. \r\n\r\nAs we continue our lessons on social-emotional learning, these resources will give my students a hands-on way to practice calming strategies, problem-solving, and positive communication. The next step for us is to incorporate the games and stories into small-group activities, where students can role-play and discuss different ways to handle challenges. This will help them carry the strategies they learn in the calm corner into the rest of their school day and beyond.\r\n\r\nThank you for making our classroom a place where students feel safe, supported, and ready to learn.","fullyFundedDate":1742845236538,"projectUrl":"project/a-calm-and-relaxing-speech-therapy-space/9149021/","projectTitle":"A Calm and Relaxing Speech Therapy Space","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Cox","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/272x272/tp3582282_272x272.jpg?width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1461201941557","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/sarahcoxslp"},{"teacherId":6279110,"projectId":6855534,"letterContent":"The materials we received have been such a blessing for organizing our speech items, especially the adapted books we made for our students. These books are tailored to meet each student's needs and help them engage with language in a way that is both accessible and exciting.\r\n\r\nIn our classroom, reading isn't just about enjoying a story—it's a tool for building communication and language skills. These adapted books help us teach vocabulary, sentence structure, and comprehension in a way that feels fun and interactive. For some of our students, this means pointing to pictures or matching words, while others practice forming sentences to express what's happening in the story. It's incredible to see their confidence grow as they master these skills.\r\n\r\nOne student has been working hard on understanding idioms and using context clues. These books have given us a way to practice those skills in real-world scenarios, and he's making steady progress. Another student has loved labeling objects and animals in the books, which has improved his receptive and expressive vocabulary. Watching them light up when they connect with a story is the best part of my day.
