Books are the heart of our learning, and your gift has opened up wonderful new opportunities for our students.\r\n\r\nWhen we read together, students are practicing so many skills—predicting what might happen next, asking questions about characters, making connections to their own lives, and building vocabulary. These new texts are especially valuable because they let every child find themselves in a story while also discovering new perspectives.\r\n\r\nIn our classroom, reading doesn't just happen during \"quiet time.\" We read aloud as a group, share books with partners, and use stories to spark music, art, and movement activities. It's amazing to see students light up when they connect with a book, and your donation has made that possible with fresh, exciting titles.\r\n\r\nBecause of you, our classroom is filled with curiosity, joy, and discovery. As soon as the students saw the tambourines, maracas, jingle bells, and triangles, their faces lit up with excitement. Many of them immediately reached out to explore the sounds, and the room quickly filled with happy music-making. For some of our youngest learners, it was their very first time holding a real instrument that was just their size.\r\n\r\nWe've already begun using the new resources in our daily lessons. One of our favorite activities has been a rhythm circle, where every child has their own instrument to play along with songs and movement. This has created such a strong sense of inclusion and teamwork—students are not only keeping the beat together, but also learning to listen and respond to one another.\r\n\r\nLooking ahead, we'll be incorporating these instruments into storytelling, where the children will use different sounds to represent characters, actions, and emotions. This project will help students build creativity, language skills, and musical confidence all at once.\r\n\r\nYour generosity made this possible, and I can't thank you enough. You've given our youngest musicians the tools they need to discover the joy of music, and we can't wait to continue sharing our progress with you!","fullyFundedDate":1748467730864,"projectUrl":"project/pre-k-music-oh-hoo-ray/9363147/","projectTitle":"Pre-K Music, Oh Hoo-ray!","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. McCormick","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp5720564_orig.jpg?crop=720,720,x180,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1565733054696","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/rtemusicrug"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_13241","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":536,"numTeachers":35,"percentFrplEligible":72,"percentAsian":15,"percentBlack":33,"percentWhite":20,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":24,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"Pre-K - 6","studentTeacherRatio":"15.3:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"URBAN","ncesMetroType":"CITY_MIDSIZE"},"inStateSupporters":75.0,"schoolId":13241,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Richardson Terrace Elementary School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Richardson Terrace Elementary School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/texas/richardson-independent-school-district/richardson-terrace-elementary-school/13241"}
