One of my favorite moments happened the very first day we set them up. Students who normally linger on the sidelines immediately jumped in. We organized a small-sided tournament, and I watched students who rarely volunteer for leadership step up as captains, encouraging teammates and setting up plays. It became less about scoring and more about teamwork, strategy, and belonging.\r\n\r\nWhen the students first saw the goals, they erupted. There were cheers, high-fives, and even a few \"Are those really ours?\" comments. For many of them, having real equipment made them feel valued. It sent a message that their joy, their movement, and their teamwork matter.\r\n\r\nNext, we are building a structured intramural league that connects to goal setting in the classroom. Teams will track not only their wins on the field, but also academic and character goals tied to sportsmanship, perseverance, and leadership. We are also planning a community family soccer night so parents can see the impact firsthand.\r\n\r\nYour support did more than purchase equipment. It created connection, confidence, and community. Our students are running toward something positive every single day because of you.","fullyFundedDate":1762267659608,"projectUrl":"project/soccer-rocker/9802668/","projectTitle":"Soccer Rocker","teacherDisplayName":"Dr. Matthew Short","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp6028512_orig.png?crop=1024,1024,x0,y102&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1752657403745","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/6028512"},{"teacherId":6028512,"projectId":9864055,"letterContent":"Because of your generosity, our Ron Clark Academy House System is not just an idea we talk about, it is something students can see, wear, and feel proud of every day. The new house regalia has become a daily tool for building identity, belonging, and motivation in our classroom. We use it during house huddles, celebrations, and point moments tied to the behaviors we want most, teamwork, kindness, effort, leadership, and academic grit. One of my favorite moments so far was a reading \"stamina sprint\" where students earned house points for staying locked in, encouraging a partner, and finishing strong. When a student who usually struggles to stay focused quietly whispered, \"I'm doing it for my house,\" the whole room felt different.\r\n\r\nWhen the students first saw the materials, the reaction was immediate and electric. They were wide-eyed, smiling, and sitting taller, like the regalia gave them permission to believe they belong to something bigger than themselves. Students who are typically shy were suddenly asking to lead chants. Others carefully held the items like they were trophies. The best part was watching them turn to each other and say things like, \"We're a team,\" and \"This is our family,\" without me prompting it.\r\n\r\nNext steps, we are using the momentum to push deeper into a current classroom focus on reading and writing growth. Students are setting weekly goals, tracking progress, and using house meetings to recognize effort, not just high scores. We are also launching student-led roles within each house, greeters, encouragers, and reflection leaders, so the culture is not teacher-driven, it is student-owned. Your support did more than purchase materials. It strengthened our community, raised expectations, and gave my students a powerful reason to show up for themselves and each other. Thank you for stepping into our classroom and helping us build something that will last.","fullyFundedDate":1762998864898,"projectUrl":"project/our-house-swag/9864055/","projectTitle":"Our House Swag","teacherDisplayName":"Dr. Matthew Short","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp6028512_orig.png?crop=1024,1024,x0,y102&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1752657403745","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/6028512"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_34070","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":586,"numTeachers":44,"percentFrplEligible":71,"percentAsian":2,"percentBlack":21,"percentWhite":17,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":54,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","percentHawaiianImputed":0,"percentMultiracialImputed":4,"gradesServed":"Pre-K - 5","studentTeacherRatio":"13.3:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"SUBURBAN","ncesMetroType":"SUBURB_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":66.7,"schoolId":34070,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Ricardo Salinas Elementary School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Ricardo Salinas Elementary School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/texas/judson-independent-school-district/ricardo-salinas-elementary-school/34070"}
