Having these new pencil sharpeners for students to use has been such a gift. My first graders love to sharpen their own pencils, and these pencil sharpeners are kid friendly. We now have three pencil sharpening stations around the room. Students can sharpen their own pencils when they are dull. This allows them better motor control in their handwriting.\r\nDeveloping fine motor skills is a big part of first grade.
