My students learn best through hands-on activities, visual tools, and engaging practice that makes math feel meaningful and accessible. With your support, we were able to bring resources into our classroom that sparked curiosity, strengthened problem-solving abilities, and helped every student see themselves as capable mathematicians. Your generosity truly made a difference—thank you.\r\n In October we embarked on our 2nd unit of the year, proportionality. We found unit rates through grocery shopping experiences as well as rates of speed, which is where one of your many gifts came to play. I find it makes more of an impact on learning when you can actually do what the math problem suggests. We took the new stopwatches, which the students were very excited to use outside to the football field so that they could find their own rate of speed in yards per sec. It just so happened to be Halloween, so you will see students running in their costumes. Being Halloween we were able to add a twist, and they had to figure out who would win a race between a zombie, and a mummy. So much Fun!\r\n On a daily basis we use the expo markers to practice our fluency as well as share our thinking with others. This next quarter we will be making tiny homes, and finishing off the year with board games. All of which couldn't happen without your donations, so again, thank you for supporting my middle school mathematicians with hands on learning that matters.","fullyFundedDate":1757421801389,"projectUrl":"project/supporting-mathematicians/9601544/","projectTitle":"Supporting Mathematicians","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Sathya","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp8981122_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1755284028796","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/8981122"},{"teacherId":9307412,"projectId":9596069,"letterContent":"These books have been life-changing for morale in my classroom! This year, I decided to start a book club with students who want extra challenges in English, as well as students who struggle with reading and writing. This generous donation of books helped my advanced students to find a series that they are passionate about. Many students have gone so far as to create projects and extra learning opportunities for their peers with these novels.\r\n\r\nSome of these novels are also being used in a book study unit. Many students stated that they have never finished a book before, but are loving the books that we are reading in class. It's been incredibly heartwarming to watch students gain confidence with their reading skills, while also boosting social emotional skills. We have been heavily focused on communication with others surrounding books, and as many as 40 students have shared an interest in book clubs outside of class, many of them choosing to start their own clubs with friends. \r\n\r\nI cannot thank you enough for this generous gift. As someone that chose to get into teaching because of a love for reading, it has been a very emotional journey watching students truly learn to love reading and gain confidence in the classroom. I hope you will continue to support educators like me in the future!","fullyFundedDate":1755361491306,"projectUrl":"project/help-middle-schoolers-love-reading/9596069/","projectTitle":"Help Middle Schoolers Love Reading!","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Battreall","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9307412_orig.jpg?crop=3024,3024,x0,y453&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1695834410316","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9307412"},{"teacherId":8733899,"projectId":9551803,"letterContent":"I teach a group of neurodiverse learners that have many different needs to be successful. Your generosity brought excitement, teamwork, and genuine joy into our classroom.\r\n\r\nBecause of you, my students now have a wide variety of engaging board games that encourage strategy, communication, and problem-solving. These games have quickly become one of their favorite ways to interact with each other, and the tournament has turned into a positive social outlet, especially for students who don't always get the chance to shine in traditional academic settings.\r\n\r\nIt has been amazing to watch students build confidence as they learn new rules, negotiate play, and practice good sportsmanship. Even students who are usually hesitant to participate jumped right in, helping friends, cheering each other on, and celebrating every win (and loss!) with great attitudes. The energy in the room during our first tournament was something truly special.\r\n\r\nYour donation didn't just fund games, it helped create community, connection, and a safe space for students to practice social skills in a fun, meaningful way. The small whiteboards have become a daily tool for quick check-ins, brainstorming, and Kagan structures like Rally Coach and Think-Pair-Share. The large sticky notes and anchor chart paper have been a huge hit; students love using them to create visual summaries, group posters, and reflection charts. One of the best moments was watching groups rotate around the room during a health lesson, adding ideas to each chart during a gallery walk. It's made learning feel alive, hands-on, and student-centered.\r\n\r\nWhen the materials first arrived, the students were so excited. As soon as I pulled out the giant sticky notes, I heard comments like, \"These are awesome!\" and \"Can we use these today?\" The whiteboards brought instant engagement. Students love being able to share ideas quickly and confidently. You could see their enthusiasm grow as they realized these materials weren't just for the teacher, but for them to take ownership of their learning.\r\n\r\nNext, we'll continue using these resources for our group health reflections and collaborative projects. Students will use the anchor chart paper to display their thinking and lead small-group discussions and presentations. These materials have transformed the way we work together, encouraging creativity, teamwork, and meaningful discussion every day.","fullyFundedDate":1755365618775,"projectUrl":"project/stronger-everyday-learning-for-lifelong/9577396/","projectTitle":"Stronger Everyday: Learning for Lifelong Health","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Lee","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-4_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10170087"},{"teacherId":9222905,"projectId":9540699,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for your donations to our Middle School Art classroom. \r\n\r\nThis year our 8th grade students have a Fibers focused class and one of the skills they have been working on is quilting design and construction. We were even lucky enough to have a special guest come into our classroom and work with students over 2 weeks to learn how to piece together and sew various patterns of quilt squares. \r\n\r\nThe students were excited to use the tools purchased with this project. By adding another sewing machine to our classroom, more students had access to learning how to use this versatile tool. The cutting mats, quilting rulers and rotary cutters were critical components in this project and most of the students had never used these types of tools before.\r\n\r\nAs you will see from the photos, the students really enjoyed these projects and will be able to use the skills they've learned in many projects in the future.","fullyFundedDate":1754922941048,"projectUrl":"project/fiber-arts-at-our-middle-school/9540699/","projectTitle":"Fiber Arts at Our Middle School","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Nap","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-3_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9222905"},{"teacherId":2026212,"projectId":9056012,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for your generous support! As soon as we opened the planters and watering cans, the room filled with joy.\r\n\r\nThe students began by researching the best ways to plant seeds, then teamed up to design and plan their garden plots. Watching them take ownership of the process—from planting to daily watering and tracking growth—has been a great experience. Their enthusiasm is inspiring, and every new sprout brings smiles and a sense of accomplishment.\r\n\r\nThere have been moments of reflection too—remembering past attempts that didn't always succeed—but this time, with your help, they feel they can be successful. They're not just learning science—they're learning responsibility, patience, and care.\r\n\r\nWe're already dreaming bigger, too.
