We're using the new classroom rug every day as our \"community spot\" for partner reading, small group phonics practice, and a place to have our reading and math interventions. Before, students were often scattered at desks and it was harder to keep everyone comfortable and focused for learning. Now, we gather together on the rug to build routines, practice listening and speaking, and learn side-by-side in a calm, organized space. One of my favorite moments so far was during partner reading students sat sharing books with each other. Some were even able to use this area to work independently on the IPad to work on their reading and math skills. \r\n When students first saw the rug, their faces lit up. They immediately noticed the smiley face pattern and quickly went about picking their favorite color and wanted to sit on it right away. They were proud to have a space that felt like a real classroom community area. It quickly became a \"special place\" where students try their best because it feels inviting and comfortable.\r\n The snacks have been just as meaningful. Many of my students come to school hungry or lose focus when their energy drops. Having snacks available has helped students stay regulated, engaged, and ready to learn especially during reading and math blocks. I've seen students who usually shut down push through challenging work after a quick snack and a reset. It also supports independence and classroom responsibility: students follow routines, clean up after themselves, and return to learning more calmly.\r\n We're continuing to strengthen our learning routines and build stamina, especially in reading and writing. On the rug, we're practicing short, focused small group lessons (like phonics drills, sight word practice, and comprehension discussions) and then transitioning into independent work. Students are working on listening to a partner, sharing ideas respectfully, and staying engaged for longer periods of time. Because of these materials, our classroom feels more stable, more caring, and more ready for learning every single day.\r\n Thank you for being part of our classroom story. Your kindness and generosity created a more comfortable learning environment and helped meet a real daily need for our students.","fullyFundedDate":1764722191165,"projectUrl":"project/cozy-meeting-area-rug-and-flexible-seati/9701769/","projectTitle":"Cozy Meeting Area Rug and Flexible Seating","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Yang","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp8078239_orig.jpg?crop=298,298,x16,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1643233336876","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/8078239"},{"teacherId":6934321,"projectId":9968828,"letterContent":"Thank you for taking the time to read in support of a polo. His eyes lit up, and he couldn't wait to show the others. He went around helping a few classmates who were still stuck, and soon the whole group caught on. The room filled with excitement as everyone began to understand how regrouping worked. \r\n\r\nWhen my second graders first saw the new math manipulatives, their faces lit up with curiosity.
