The new books are mostly biographies about historical figures and non-fiction books about plants, animals, habitats, space, and regions of the United States.\r\n\r\nStudents can borrow books to take home for daily reading. Students who are early finishers with classroom activities can silent read these texts also. I have students work with partners to read the books on their own when I work with small groups for specialized English language arts and math instruction.\r\n\r\nThe books on animals and habitats are especially popular and useful. I had one student who didn't know what a coral reef was until he borrowed a book from this donation. The book has bright and colorful photos and lots of easy to understand information about coral reefs.
