We use the speaker during music and movement, transitions, and lessons to help students practice listening, following directions, imitation, communication, and social-emotional skills. Songs connected to our curriculum help reinforce concepts in a fun and memorable way. At the same time, the instruments give students hands-on opportunities to explore sounds, practice cause-and-effect, develop fine motor skills, and learn turn-taking.\r\n\r\nOur students are especially excited to choose and play the different instruments. Students who may be hesitant to participate in group activities have become more engaged and willing to join when music and instruments are introduced. Our students with autism and emerging communication skills particularly enjoy these activities because music provides a motivating and predictable way to express themselves, connect with classmates, and build confidence.
