The scarfs are going to be used in the next few weeks with my 4th grade when we get to the \"aquarium\" movement in the \"Carnival of the Animals\". I'm looking forward to playing some rhythm Bingo (especially after our spring concert). I'll be laminating them to make them last longer. And oh my goodness...even my \"big\" kids had to try out the pBuzz instruments to see how they worked. Flex music simply means that it will allow us smaller bands to play pieces that normally a larger group would play, but we couldn't because we don't have the instrumentation. Well, we could, but it would sound totally different, and judges don't like that, not when they are used to hearing some of these pieces with a full 60 member ensemble that had tubas, oboes, and more than 1 flute or clarinet. There are still a couple more pieces that I would love to add to my choice list (different years just lend to different pieces for various reasons), but a couple were out of stock, so I chose others on one of the other lists that I think would be good for our ensemble. We head into Large Group Festival in a week. One of the List Flex pieces you all helped contribute to last year, \"Derivations\", will be performed at that time. The kids love it! Then I realized that Heather did, when I looked back at the project, and realized that it was actually fully funded last summer. Her projects were put under my name last fall so that I could help get them where they needed to go. So seeing this helped me remember Heather and the good things she was doing for her students to see them grow. I will be making sure that these get down to the lower elementary special education classroom, and be assured, I KNOW the kiddos down there will love building barns, castles, race tracks, and using the people to practice life skills while having fun.
