The 16x20 canvases, neon acrylic paint, and acetate sheets provided through Donors Choose will allow my 5th grade students to explore self-expression, color, identity, and artistic techniques in a meaningful way. This project will serve as a capstone experience, giving students the opportunity to apply skills developed throughout their elementary art education while building confidence, practicing problem-solving, and developing their artistic voices. Working on a larger scale will challenge students to think creatively and make thoughtful artistic decisions.\r\n\r\nAt the end of the school year, these self-portraits will be displayed as part of a student art exhibition celebrating the creativity, growth, and accomplishments of our 5th grade artists. Students will have the opportunity to share their individuality and take pride in artwork that represents who they are as artists.
