With our new STEM building sets, magnetic tiles, and geomaker kits, students are actively designing structures, experimenting with balance and stability, and working together to solve real-world challenges. One standout moment was when students used the magnetic blocks and tiles to build towers, testing which designs could withstand movement and weight of toy cars. The excitement when their designs succeeded—or even failed and had to be redesigned was priceless.\r\n\r\nOur Play-Doh kits, tools, and silicone mats have added another layer of creativity. Students are using them to model new vocabulary they are learning within the context books. One group carefully sculpted a pond with frogs and lilly pads.\r\n\r\nWhen the materials first arrived, students were filled with energy and curiosity. They were eager to explore every item, asking questions and sharing ideas with one another. It quickly became clear that these resources were not just \"toys\" to them—they were tools for imagination, collaboration, and discovery.\r\n\r\nLooking ahead, students will engage in more design challenges where they will plan, sketch, build, and improve their creations. Instead of recreating materials each time we practice a skill, I can laminate them once and reuse them throughout the year. This not only saves valuable instructional time, but it also allows me to focus more on planning engaging lessons and providing targeted support to my students.\r\n\r\nThe laminated materials have transformed our math time into a more interactive, hands on experience. Students are more excited to participate when they are using game boards, dry erase activities, and reusable practice cards. Being able to write, erase, and try again builds confidence and encourages risk-taking in a low pressure way.\r\n\r\nThe tape has also been a huge help in our classroom. Our cement brick walls can make it challenging to keep anchor charts and learning tools displayed, but now I can securely post math visuals and reference materials where students can easily see and use them. Having those supports visible throughout the day reinforces learning and promotes independence.\r\n\r\nThe math pieces have brought our games to life. They make activities more engaging and interactive, and the small prizes add an element of fun and motivation that my students truly look forward to.\r\n\r\nOverall, these donations have helped create a classroom environment where math is hands on, engaging, and built to last. When my students first saw the floor dots, alphabet sensory path, and phonics games, they were instantly excited and eager to try everything. These resources immediately brought energy and joy into our daily routines while helping make learning feel fun and accessible for every child.\r\n\r\nWe are using these materials during literacy centers, small group instruction, and transition times to reinforce phonics, letter recognition, and word patterns through movement and play. One of my favorite moments so far was seeing a group of students work together with the phonics dominoes, carefully sounding out words and helping their classmates when someone was unsure. The sensory path has also become a favorite way for students to review letters and sounds while staying focused and active.\r\n\r\nOur next steps include creating regular movement-based literacy stations and incorporating these tools into daily reading practice and classroom routines.
