They love using the mini magic boards every day after they brush their teeth. The students also love drawing on the mini boards!! \r\n\r\nThe calming tubes are helping our students who need a break, offering something to look at and hold when they need a break. \r\n\r\nThe students loved caring for the animal erasers. They learned what animals need to live, their habitats, and what people need to do to care for them. I have to say, musicians' initial response was mixed- they loved the drums but were skeptical about the ear protection and decibel meter. \r\n\r\nA new drum is an \"easy sell\"- tuned-up to produce a bright tone, smooth and easy to play. An additional benefit- kindergarten students are able to learn to drum, as part of an extra instrumental music section!\r\n\r\nEar protection was a \"harder sell\", at least initially. While I explained the value of protecting hearing and provided storage and stickers to customize their personal ear plugs, they were skeptical. Our lap desks were the first to arrive, and students immediately found a space to sit in the classroom. They began working on their mathematics either on technology or using paper/pencil. The students were ecstatic to find a new space within the classroom to work. The following Monday everything else arrived. Students utilized the headphones for both calm during their independent time and to hear aloud explanations from their technology-based mathematics resources.
